Why Test for Color Blindness?

Approximately 8% of men and 0.5% of women worldwide have some form of color vision deficiency (CVD). If your design relies solely on color to convey information (like error states or charts), a significant portion of your audience might not understand it.

  • Ensure text is readable against backgrounds.
  • Verify that charts and graphs are distinguishable.
  • Check if call-to-action buttons stand out.

Types of Color Blindness

The most common form. Greens look red/brown. 6% of males have this.

Protanopia (Red-Blind)

Reds look dark or greenish. Affects about 2% of males.

Tritanopia (Blue-Blind)

Very rare. Hard to tell blue/green and yellow/violet apart.
